Slim v/s Obese

The various merits and demerits of having a slim body over an obese body are:
1) Physical attractiveness/Social outlook
Physical attractiveness is the perception of the physical traits of an individual as pleasing or beautiful. Physical attractiveness can have a significant effect on how people are judged, in terms of employment or social opportunities, friendship, sexual behavior, and marriage. In many cases, humans attribute positive characteristics, such as intelligence and honesty, to attractive people without consciously realizing it. Slimmer the person the acceptance in the society is higher as compared to an obese person who will constantly have to prove himself in all spheres of life.
2) Health Disorders / Life span
Obesity itself is a chronic disease with a strong familial tendency. It causes poor health, negatively affecting the quality of life and shortening quantity of life. In middle and older age groups, heavier weight is associated with cardio-vascular disease and its risk factors, especially for women. Obesity increases one’s risk of developing diseases like high blood pressure or hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, gall bladder disease and cancer of the breast, prostate and colon thus lowering the life span.
3) Sex Life / Fertility Rate
Sex life for obese persons is almost nil as compared to people with slimmer bodies. Obese persons are lethargic and are not interested in sexual intercourse as it is difficult for them. They are physically very weak and their physical unattractiveness makes them conscious of themselves thus making them feel unwanted thus lowering the fertility rate.
4) Restricted Lifestyle
Due to various precautions, which one will have to take to avoid the implications of being obese the life style is certainly not going to be normal. An obese person will have to restrict eating habits, will have psychological implications due to mental turmoil, increased expenses to cater for the medicines to avoid the affect of various diseases, will certainly not let him have a lifestyle which a person with a slimmer body will have.
