Psoriasis is a skin disorder driven by the immune system, especially involving a type of white blood cell called T cell. Normally, T cells help protect the body against infection and disease but in case of psoriasis, T cells are put into action by mistake and become so active that they trigger other immune responses, which lead to inflammation and rapid turnover of skin cells.
Several factors can cause psoriasis to flare up or worsen. Among them are:
• Alcohol: Patients with psoriasis show high rates of excess alcohol intake, alcoholism, and death due to alcohol related diseases.
• Smoking: The risk of psoriasis is higher in smokers, with high consumption and long duration of smoking particularly related to severe disease in women.
• Obesity: The weight gain occurs after disease onset and is related to a sedentary lifestyle.

Panchatikta ghrit gulgullu- A powerful antibacterial and antifungal drug.
Neem oil (Melia azhardirachta)-This is indicated in leprosy, boils, and carbuncles, bacterial and fungal infections. It checks itching and heals ulcers.
Chalmogra oil (Hydnocarpus laurifolia) – It contains chalmogric acid and hydnocarpic acid and has specific toxicity for mycobacterium leprae. In vitro it is proved 10 times more potent than phenol. In psoriasis it is the drug of choice.
Narayan oil – It has anti-inflammatory action, useful in pruritis, dermatitis, dried skin disorders, leprosy, psoriasis, paralysis and arthritis.
Bavchi oil (Psoralia cordifolia) – A very well trusted and time tested drug used successfully in stubborn skin disorders. It improves the renal functions and excretes toxins through urine.
